The Duo

Boocara at the Bacara

The Bacara is a fancy-schmancy hotel in Santa Barbara that caters to a shi-shi crowd. Not this night though, they open their doors for a free Halloween Event. Uhmmm...for sure we will be there.  It was a good time.

Free s'mores!! S'mores rank right up there with kettle corn in my book of favorites. I think Vera agrees.

It takes skill to wear a costume as big as the one that J is wearing and still be able to carry the baby.

I just chuckled at the fact that they were both in HUGE costumes.

TJ's Hooks Up the Crafts

Pumpkin painting, why yes, we will. We love free arts and craft.

YMCA Fall Festival

The YMCA Fall Festival was our first chance to show off the kids' costumes and do a little trick-or-treating.

I am super, super thrilled with Vera's costume. At first, when she said that she wanted to be the Queen of Hearts I had to groan. I didn't love the costumes that were out there and I had no idea how to make it. Then, I found a site on pinterest that showed tulle ballroom skirts and there was an example of the Queen of Heats. Sweet! I ran with the idea and love the result. Plus, she loves it, which is the best part.

Games!

Mrs. B made her little guy the cutest calculator costume. As for my boys, they are spending this Halloween as pirates. Now, if I could just get The Dude to keep his accessories on. He has swords, a parrot, earrings, and a hook. I don't think he will end up wearing any of it.

Oh boys, so sweet and yet so much work.

Please see above comment and repeat.

A Gem

Vera has been studying the 5 senses in science class. She came home with this little keeper on Monday. Vera likes to touch snakes, melting ice, pencils, and money (not just any money, but $100 bills). The little person in the corner = me.

LA Zoo

One of Gus' favorite exhibits. He really, really (= tantrum when I tried to carry him away) didn't want to leave.

Gus just wants to be one of the big kids.

Hedgehog time! Most interesting fact of the day: a baby hedgehog is born with skin covering its quills. They pop through the skin after it is born.

Family photo fail. The boys were not having it.

Camouflage!

I am trying to get in front of the camera with my kids more often. Vera is the only one that really goes for it.

Point of the trip = to meet Baby J and see my friend.

My favorite animal of the day = American Black Bear.

TaTa turns 36

Poor TaTa thought she was turning 35 this year, sorry Sis, 36 is the new 35. For her birthday, Painted Cabernet was in order + frosting cupcakes. Those are just what they sound like...frosting in a bowl. Really, who really likes the cake? The cake just transports the frosting to where it needs to be (my stomach).

Made me laugh, you gonna paint my chin?

The finished product! It is always fun to see the variance.

Hitchhiker

Another title for this post could have been, "Why are there so many darn creepy-crawlies at our house?" Yep, I made Keller take the snail off Gus. There was no way that I was touching the slimy, little guy.

End of Summer

We've been meeting friends Sunday night for dinner at the Rose Garden all summer. The kids run around and act crazy, we scarf a bit of food, and a good time is had by all. Last week was the last week, since it is getting dark sooner and chilling down quite a bit in the evenings.

Did I mention that the kids run around? They also like to rough house. You know it is time to head home when more than 1 kid comes back to the parents crying because so-and-so tackled them too hard.

Until next summer!
