Father's Day Beach Pictures

I had never been to Cannon Beach. Haystack Rock is impressive. The day was great...even only I had reapplied sunscreen to the three younger kiddos...lobster red.

Dog Mountain Hike - 7.8 miles

Dog Mountain kicked my butt. 7.8 miles round trip and steep on the way up. To say my calves are aching is an understatement. Two days after the hike and I can barely walk. Whoops.

Super sweaty selfie, but what are you going to do. I just think it is fun to see the gorge in the background.

Mother's Day Splurge

My Mother's Day gift arrived. Hmmm...well, actually I have wanted to buy from my favorite jewelry store in Ventura to support them during COVID. Mother's Day just seemed like the perfect excuse. The crazy is that you kind of ask for a certain color, but nothing is quarantined. I just knew what shape I would get.

I LOVE them. Betty's Belts is amazing and they got here super fast.

Sandy Swimming Hole...

...was kind of a bust this time around. The water was super cold and the current was strong. I think we were all a little traumatized after witnessing 2 girls get swept away by the current. The one caught herself on the rocks, the other had to be rescued down the river by a friend. Meanwhile, I am now very nervous about river swimming.

Strawberry Picking + First Visit From Friends

J's friend from high school + his lovely fiance came to visit for the weekend and we got some much needed company time after being quarantined. Strawberry picking and bike riding were on the agenda.

Mary's Peak strawberries are amazing and you better believe the strawberry shortcake we made was delicious.

Had to throw in my picture of St. John's Bridge.

Also, a quick visit to see Paul Bunyan. Pearl was the only one who would get out of the car.

We got home and realized that there were 2 cherries on our tree in the backyard!!

Driving Again

Opa, I think you will appreciate this post! Driving Vera to rowing and I get stopped by a freight train chugging through town. Gates go up, no green light, and then the gates go back down again. Next up, I see an Amtrak coming from the opposite direction. I took pictures to prove to J that sometimes I have the worst luck.

Basement Redo!

This picture was taken by the previous owner for the Zillow posting when she sold the house. Even then I thought the carpet was funky and couldn't understand the wall color choice.

Walls are now an off-white and carpet is a mix of grey, brown, and beige. That turned out to be the most difficult process of the whole thing. Choosing a carpet is tough. That owl picture in the background is covering up an electrical panel...not quite sure yet what we are going to put on the walls yet. If J has his way, it will be nothing. ;)

Vera's 8th Grade Graduation

I think she had fun! She waved from the sun roof like a queen and got to see friends in their cars and family friends cheering her on from the sidelines.

Girl's Field Trip

The girls and I headed out to Columbia Farms on Sauvie Island to pick strawberries on Saturday morning. It was nice to get quality time with half of my kiddos and cutting the number who attend seems to cut the complaining. Hmmm...not sure if it is a number thing or the fact that I gave kids a choice on coming or not.

$14 dollars for everything we picked. Amazing. It was dirtier and wetter than I thought it would be. ;)
