YMCA Halloween Festival

We love getting photos from friends! Thank you Deb for mailing these shots..Special K and V trick-or-treating at the Y.

New Costumes

Vera and Keller have rocked the 50s costumes many times already and Halloween night hasn't happened yet. SO, for the YMCA's festival we decided to rock some different looks. Vera raided her dress-up box and came up with a kitty-cat outfit and Keller kicked the free bat outfit that J hooked up last year.

Yellowbird - Spooky Halloween Fun!

We love Yellowbird...it was especially nice last week when I kept the three kiddos there and invaded the class. We picked the right day, Halloween party time.

Just to document the moment, yes there is an actual photo of Keller and I.

Playing with gooey blood and body parts...kid you not. It was so funny to watch Vera ask so politely if she could hold the foot. Oh, and pass the dismembered hand please.

Love Alex!

Taylor pumpkin - this babe was made for headbands. She was digging it.

The balancing act of having the three kids all in one space.

Little Dude

Sweet!

Vera just spent an hour watching men clean the outside of our condo complex with a high powered spray. Love it! It gave me time to catch up on DWTS!

PEP Halloween Event - The Kiddos

My next few posts are going to give all the details about the PEP Rockin' Halloween Celebrations. I, with the help of lots and lots of volunteers, planned the event. Whew! So many details to think about.

Now, that it is over I kind of have that feeling like my wedding is just over. I have been planning it for so long that I feel like something is missing from my life. Luckily, I still have 500 thank you emails to write, so that will keep me busy for a bit.

There are about 200 things I would change, but I loved the event. There are more posts coming, but for now I thought I would start with what the kidlets were doing during the event. A HUGE thank you to Nonni and Nonno for watching the kids all weekend and chasing after them during the celebration.

The Beach Star Gymnastics area is where V and K spent most of their time, can you tell why?

The photo area, two dalmations and a Ray-man.

My little James Dean!

Charlie and Ray-Man, poor Charlie had three kiddos most of the afternoon because V would not leave Little B's side. Plus, I just really like this photo.

Halloween Par-tay!

Saturday afternoon we headed up to a friend's house for some Halloween fun and it was good times all around. I had to start this post with a picture of food! Here are the treaties for the kids, Vera was loving the mummy pizzas!

The hostess with the mostest!

Rae-Rae and Vera kicking as only good friends can do.

Can you guess where V spent most of her time at the party?

Family scarecrow building time! Yee-haw!

Probably every kids favorite game of the day, cause you get a donut at the end of course!

P-Patch After Dark

In SB, you have to love Lane Farms for the closest to an authentic pumpkin patch that you can find here. They have a corn maze, animals, lots and lots of jumbo pumpkins, and free hay rides. We visit, once or twice, or ten times in the month of October. They have good prices on all of their squash, so I pick a few up each time to justify my kids screaming through their area. This year we tried a late night visit for the first time. Good times!

Hay throwing fun! The kids spent a good 20 minutes chasing after the monster (aka Daddy) trying to feed him yummy, delicious hay.

Close to the almost impossible goal of having all four kids looking at the camera.

Typical photo when trying to snap one of four kids.

AND, first time that I have ever caught Vera and B looking at the camera at the same time with expressions on their faces that resemble smiles. Big moment, except so flashed out! Photos at night, kind of hard.

Parts

As parents, we struggled teaching Vera what to call her private parts. So, now we just call them parts. It is simple and not too graphic. However, our little girl was confused for a second when Daddy took her to the store to buy supplies to change the oil on the car. He kept calling it the auto parts shop today. It gave her material for a new song.

Vera's new song:

Parts, parts, parts,
Bodies have parts, parts, parts,
Cars have parts, parts, parts
parts, parts, parts

Grand Canyon

Now it is my turn (and my dad's) to be photoshopped in front of a landmark. The Grand Canyon was our big destination for Road Trip 2009. It was the one location that we both agreed we had to see and explore. It is as majestic as you would think and I would kill to see it from a helicopter or plane..well, I guess not kill, cause I wasn't willing to pay for it.

Next time I travel there, I am hiking down...I want to see the view looking up.

When Moms Away the In-Laws Will Play

First, my posts are all out of order and so at times you will see a random man with a mustache. Other blogs, you may see the return of the mountain man with the full beard that I miss so much. While I was away, Nonni and Nonno came to visit for the weekend. By visit, I mean that they drove to Santa Barbara to sample every single new yogurt place that has popped up around town to make an in-depth comparison. They sampled Yogurtland, Rockin' Yogurt, and Pinkberry. Don't get me started on how much I am loving Yogurtland right now...so good!

From renting a surrey to visiting Lane Farm's, it was a busy weekend.

Cadillac Ranch, Texas

For Road Trip 2009 it was my job to find landmarks and points of interest to see along our journey. That goal was much harder than it sounds. Originally, I had seen an article on Cadillac Ranch, but thought that Texas was way our our path. Turns out it wasn't.

Here is the other coincidence. On one of my 900 bathroom stops I saw a postcard for Cadillac Ranch, located in Amarillo...which was only 20 miles up the road from where we were on I-40, Fate! After many frantic calls to J for directions and a few wrong turns where we almost gave up, we reached our destination. Yes, the destination was 10 cars buried in the dirt covered in spray paint.

Hard to tell by the photos, but it was COLD...and foggy...in Texas. What is that all about? Oh, and me hanging from the car, would have been a lot cooler if the spray paint that I had been touching was dry. Instead, I ended up with maroon colored hands.
