Zoo Day with Ta-Ta and Uncle D

After 4 days of being at home with a sick little boy, we jumped at the chance to visit some animals with Ta-Ta and Uncle D at the zoo. It really, really helped that they brought Chicken Ranch to share.

There was an entire world of critters for Keller to see and he just wanted to watch the zookeeper raking leaves. So exciting! Don't know how she felt about being on display.

Thank you Sis and B-i-L for being okay with Booger Boy and One Volume Vera.
Vera's patented photo face. Pursed lips - check, head tilt - check, and she is all set for a picture. Both kids were excited because they had long sleeves with a short sleeve shirt over it. Only problem, Keller totally looks like he is wearing a turtleneck.

Pop Quiz: Which picture did Vera paint and which one did Keller do?

Yes, why that would be a heap of dogs that Vera is dragging up the stairs. The star of the pack is still Bingo, the Beagle. Two funny things about that dog. First, when asked how he got his name, Vera's original reply, "Cause Bingo was his name-o!."

The second is unfortunately that Bingo had a little run-in with some puke last weekend. The world almost came to an end in our house that night. Bingo WAS a barking and tail wagging dog. Not so anymore, I stripped him of his battery pack and threw him into the washer with all of Vera's bedding. What I didn't realize was that because there was a whole where his battery pack used to be, his stuff ended up everywhere. He has some major surgery and is now almost back to normal, but will be silent for ever more...not really a bad thing in our world.

This one is for Zia! Vera loved painting the set and planting her wheat grass.

Keller being sick has equaled lots of indoor time this week.

So Keller Dude

Yes, it is an older video (as evidenced by Keller Dude's hair), but so just him!

New Bathrobes

Cute new towels/bathrobes. Sure they are supposed to be taken to the beach, but they work pretty darn great as just plain old shower towels. And well, the two kiddos look adorable!

Fruit Bowl

On the ever continuing quest to add warmth to our house, our plain silver fruit bowl has been replaced. Maybe it is the combo of limes and oranges or the sweet potatoes that we will never eat (Why do I keep buying them?)...but, I love it.

It is a Costco special, because we love everything Costco, that will now serve a dual purpose. Fruit holder by day and party platter on special occasions. Pretty and useful, patting myself on the back that I made such a good buy.

Shiny!

Head injury #1. Does it run in the family? Keller took a fall at the park yesterday and managed to knock his noggin' on a rock. After exactly 15 seconds he was back up and running around. Me, my heartbeat was thumping in my chest and I really had to control the urge to not overact.

Fashion Dogs

Vera's birthday came and went and we got gifted a fabulous kit for making doggie clothes. Thank you D! Of course, I am thanking you here, but inside I am struggling with itty-bitty clothes and how to make them stick on these little pups.

Mini-Photoshoot

Nancy Shower

Baby shower for my friend Nancy - check! After many hours of planning, including many, many spent on the below cookie pops...the party is over and now we are just waiting for her little man to arrive. BUT, back to the pops. As a first try they turned out pretty well, except they kept falling off their darn sticks. Next time, thicker cookies and more frosting. There can never be too much frosting!

Second creation, an ice cream cake. After many conversations with D about how to do it, I was ready. Basically I had to cook a brownie and spread ice cream on top. Unfortunately, my timing got a little off in the planning stage and I thought I could whip the whole thing together in 30 minutes. Whoops, each layer (there were 3) had be be frozen before adding the next. Hmm, I cut a few corners and it dripped a bit. But, I am still counting it as a success, because the blueberries on top were so darn pretty.

Party planners + mom-to-be = fab quartet!

Love my mamas!

Smile of the Day

Rainbow

Have you seen this picture? I love the color coding, but never really motivated to do it at home. Then, while we were in NY TnT had their bookshelf sorted by the colors of the rainbow and it just clicked that I have enough books to do it.

Little by little, I am trying to add warmth to our house. At this point, I am a serious book collector, both for kids and adults and the question becomes how to deal with them all. Well, my books are rearranged. What do you think? I would love to get to the point where each shelf has its own color. There tend to be too many green, blue, and white.

Buzz Aldrin Jr.

Dog Party

I think I can truthfully say that the 4 birthday festivities are over. Vera's Dog Party with pupcakes was the final act.

Pupcakes + 24 balloons = all you need to have a good dog party.

Natural History Museum - NYC

We love cheesy videos! I only realized after watching it how often I waved my hand in front of J's face. In the moment, I was focused on my acting skills.

Actual Day

Excited to be 4, you betcha. It is especially cool when you get Yogurtland as your birthday treat. Good friends + choose your own topping yogurt = fantastic birthday fun.

Love-30

First tennis lesson and she already has her own ball boy! No pressure, but I am thinking that I could have the next dynamic duo in tennis. They could both take Wimbledon in 2025.

4!!!!

Let the celebrations began! Vera is turning 4 tomorrow and the parties have already started. The Mazzetta clan started on Sunday with a birthday breakfast with the whole family. Lots of doughnuts, pastries, bagels, and much needed coffee.
