If you haven't been to Steven's Park lately and live in the area - GO! The creek has just enough water for wading and splashing, the kiddos are loving it. Vera explores the rocks and mini waterfalls. Keller, well, he just gets wet.

YMCA Easter Egg Hunt
Books, Books, Books
My heart warms just a little bit each time one of the kiddos climbs into a bed, chair, or couch to read a book. As an avid reader, I want my kids to love books and to be readers their whole lives...I like to think big. Both Vera and Keller are into the book thing and so we have started letting them read in bed before turning off the lights at night. I know these pics are of Vera and a friend, but seriously the cutest thing I have ever seen is when we go in to turn off the light at night and both kids are curled up on Vera's bed reading. Sigh, the moments make it.

The Thinking Chair
Me: That chair is going to be the new Naughty Chair (pointing to the purple chair in our hallway).
Vera: I don't want to call it the Naughty Chair, I want to call it the Thinking Chair.
Wow, what deep insight. She wants the chance to process what she has done and really make it better. Uhmmm...nope...
Vera: Yea, if we call it the Naughty Chair Santa won't give us presents for Christmas.
Smart kid, so we are instituting the Thinking Chair at our house. Because, you know Keller is going to be sitting in that chair thinking about why hitting his sister isn't okay.

Catch-Up
Keller's hair is finally growing back in. Love being able to gel it into a little faux hawk.
The hubby! Yes, I am planning on stealing the his hat and hiding it. And by hiding it, I mean putting it in the trash. Just kidding baby, I really like it.
Fully okay with Keller sticking the vacuum on his stomach, much better than when he tried to clean his teeth with the hose. Ewww...grosses me out just thinking about it.

Book Club at Lincourt Winery
Books + wine + good friends = the perfect day. Jamie made delicious sandwiches, we discussed the book briefly (not a favorite of the group), and had lots and lots of great talk time.
All the cool kids wear jean jackets! Plus, it is the perfect thing to throw over a dress when it is still a bit chilly.
Group shot, Nancy even made it with Baby Reevie!!

Butterflies
We have spent the last couple of weeks watching Painted Lady Butterflies move through their life cycle. The back story...on a lark, I bought an Insect Lore kit at Costco around Christmas time. It included a mesh butterfly habitat and a coupon for 10 caterpillars or larvae if you will.
Everything worked well, we mailed away for our larvae, they arrived, cocooned themselves, and turned into beautiful butterflies. We then had the joy of releasing them into the wild. However, my big plan was to document the whole thing, taking amazing photos of the kids with the butterflies. That was before I realized that I had brought the camera without the memory card in it. Seriously? AND, the butterflies were staying on the kids' hands, chilling, and hanging out. Thankfully, one of the PEP mamas had an iphone and so at least I have something. It was some bad planning on my part.

SLO Shopping and Play
While Zia and I shopped 'til we dropped, literally I was exhausted by the end of the day, the kids played at the San Luis Obispo Childrens Museum. First though, back to the shopping. It is such a treat to browse and try clothes on without two little munchkins clinging to my legs. That said, seeing them at the end of the day was such a treat....breaks are good.
As mentioned, the kiddos were entertained by Daddy and Damien at the museum...and it looked like fun! Dinosaur digs, vet pretend play, motorcycles, grocery shopping, trains, and more. They ended their day with a visit to Uptown Coffee. Hmm...good ending to a great day.
Vera pretending to be a vet is my favorite photo of the day! Seriously, how cute is she in her scrubs? Doctor, nurse, or vet, this kid was made to wear scrubs.
But, this kid will not be allowed to ride a motorcycle. The Keller Dude on a motorcycle is just a bad, bad idea.

The Zoo AGAIN!
Yep, we do go to the zoo a lot! This time was special though, our friends Kate and Mikel came to town to spend the day with us from LA and the rain held off just enough for us to spend the morning traipsing around our favorite place.
We always learn new information every time we tour the zoo. This time, the zookeeper talk was at the elephant cage. Did you know that Mac and Suzie are 38-years-old? I also had the chance to ask about their swimming habits and so the kids and I have high hopes of seeing Little Mac in the water this summer. :)
Good times!! Thank you K and M for coming to SB for the day!!
