Owls in Wonderland

Laguna Blanca, a private school in Santa Barbara, puts on a community event called Owls in Wonderland. I.e. their mascot is an owl. It is three hours of fun. We dragged along a friend for Vera, braved the winter rain (that lasted all of 20 minutes), and headed to Wonderland.

Everyone gets to go to the Mad Hatter and adorn a top hat.

Keller enjoyed the enormous chess set and managed to hold his own while playing.

Still, the winner of the day was the tea part. Sugary drinks emblazoned with, "Drink Me!" and chocolate cone bowls filled with popcorn. Yum.

I was in charge of Pearl and so got to watch as she crafted. Funnily enough, Kevin Costner milled his way around the fundraiser...gotta love Santa Barbara.

U10 Division II Champions

Aqua Shaka Turtles, best name ever for a team.

Crafting with cousins is always a good time.

Thank you, Opa, for the light-up shoes.

 Vera's swim meet!

Gus is making HUGE progress as a swimmer. He just graduated from pike to eel, which means that he can swim a little bit.

The Haircut Heard Around the World

Oh! The joy of long hair. It can be put back in a pony and looks adorable with a big headband bow. Truth, I waited a very long time to give Pearly her first haircut. So long, that Gus decided to take matters into his own hands. In his defense (and it is very shady defense), J and I both truly believe that he thought he could simply put it back on after all of the cutting. Not the case Little Man!

After the cut:

Gus managed to destroy one side, think boy cut short and take a HUGE chunk out of the front. Thank goodness for Eric from The Color Room. He managed to create a hairstyle out of the chaos.

Pixie! Randomly, it suits her.

Basketball Season

Oh, Happy Day!

So, this is happening in our house now. Keller is reading to his siblings, to himself, and to us. He likes it! It might be his age, the fact that reading glasses have been need this entire time, or...I don't care. As long as he is reading and liking it, I am one happy and proud mama.

AYSO Volunteer Party AND Pearl's First Face Painting

The picture on the right, basically made me laugh out loud when I saw it. I was laughing at the time too. Little P just wasn't sure about the whole face painting experience.

Rad:

The party included bingo, a photo booth (need to find photos to post), carnival games, and tons of food. We stayed for the entire three hours.

One of our friends with his amazing facepaint!

Vera went back and forth with whether or not she liked the henna. I am going to remind her of her indecision if she ever asks me about a tattoo.

October Photos

They are adorable 90% of the time...the other 10% is when they bat at our faces while we sleep or claw the dirt out of our potted pants.

Park play, grateful for friends and slides.

Janet Jackson Concert = so much fun!

UCSB Women's Soccer Game. Basically, I have discovered that I am a total sucker for a free t-shirt. It is even more amazing when that shirt is free.

Those girls standing next to Vera in the green vests, they are all the same age within a month.

More Old School Hope Days...

Soccer practice on the beach...not a bad way to spend an afternoon.

They might earn the award for most patient cats ever.
