I blame being new to the school, but I didn't realize what a big deal The Rose Festival is at the kid's school and Portland as a whole. We arrive at school on Friday and every child is carrying in a rose to for a schoolwide competition. Categories included best single rose, miniature, arrangement and a slew of others.
My little man may have started to panic. We raced home, cut roses from the garden, and we were back at school in 20 minutes...only tardy by a few minutes.
