Day 4: Scout Lookout

During this hike, J and I realized why our marriage works. I am the worrier and want to keep everyone safe all of the time. In fact, if I could put my kids in bubbles and have them be protected, I would be tempted for at least a good minute or so. J is the adventurer. He keeps us going, even when I would turn around and refill our water bottles. ;)

One of our many, many break stops. This was a very long hike and the kids did exceptionally well.

Vera, J, and Gus climbed to Scout Lookout, the stepping off point before Angel's Landing. Vera hiked for 4 miles and the hike is listed as strenuous in the guidebook. Keller and I made it about 1.75 miles up and realized that he was done. He and I rested while the others continued to the top and then we all walked back together. Still, he put in an impressive 3.5 miles.

Patting myself on the back, I did my duty and trucked the little guy down the mountain...J will probably always have to do the up part.
